Hostomat vs Beyond: what a percentage costs, and what a flat rate gives up

Beyond, once Beyond Pricing, was founded in 2013 and says it prices more than 715,000 listings. It is big, well funded, and it charges a percentage of your bookings rather than a flat fee. Hostomat is new, small, and charges $19 a listing. This is an honest look at what that difference buys and what it costs.

What Beyond is

Beyond is a revenue-management suite. The pricing engine adjusts your prices every day and reads seasonality, events, the day of the week and, on the Pro plan, what guests are searching for on the channels. Around it sit a Health Score that compares your occupancy to the market, minimum-stay and gap-fill automation, market insights, a mobile app, owner reports and an API. It connects directly to Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com, and to more than fifty PMSs, Hospitable among them. (Beyond, pricing product · integrations)

By default it discounts nights 25% inside three days and 10% inside seven, and adds a 10% premium to nights more than 270 days out. (Beyond, on last-minute discounts)

What Beyond costs

Two plans, both a percentage of your bookings: Growth at 1% and Pro at 1.25%. Pro adds search-powered pricing, custom comp sets and API access. You start with a $50 credit rather than a timed trial. (Beyond, plans) Third-party reviews describe a pay-on-stay option at 1.49%, charged at check-in. We could not confirm that on Beyond's own pages.

What a percentage means in money: a listing that books $3,000 a month pays Beyond $30 to $37.50. A listing that books $8,000 pays $80 to $100. Hosts with more properties say this is where it hurts. What Hostomat is

Hostomat connects to your Airbnb, audits each listing against the top earners near you, and prices every night for the next year against live market data. It re-prices every six hours, reacts within minutes when a booking lands, and never writes below the floor you set, which our own code enforces on every push. Setup is three decisions on one screen: who sets the base price, how hard to push for rate against occupancy, and the floor.

It costs $19 per listing per month for up to five listings, $16 from the sixth, $13 from the sixteenth. Every listing starts with a free month. The audit is free.

Where Beyond is stronger

• Channels. Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com directly, plus fifty PMSs. Hostomat writes to Airbnb, directly or through Hospitable, and nothing else yet.
• Search data. On the Pro plan Beyond prices from what guests are searching for on the channels. We price from what comparable listings near you charge and how fast they are booking. Theirs is a signal we do not have.
• Minimum stays and gap fills. Beyond writes them. Hostomat writes nightly prices only.
• Breadth. A mobile app, owner reports, a direct-booking product, payments. We have none of those.
• Scale and history. Twelve years and hundreds of thousands of listings. We have been pricing real calendars since July 2026.

Where Hostomat is different

• A bill you can predict. $19 a listing. It does not rise with a good month, and a great month costs the same as a bad one.
• The floor is a hard line, in our code. Not a setting the engine tries to respect, a check it cannot pass.
• Six hours, not a day. Beyond posts rates once a day, and reviewers mention the lag: "reaction time to get surge events factored into pricing can sometimes have too much of a delay." (Capterra, September 2024) Hostomat re-prices every six hours and lifts the nights around a new booking within minutes.
• Comps you can see and exclude. Your price sits on a live map of the listings it is priced against. If one does not belong, exclude it and the numbers recalculate. Beyond's custom comp sets sit on the Pro plan.
• The audit is included. Photos, copy, amenities and reviews, scored out of 100, with the weak parts rewritten.
• Three decisions. Reviewers put Beyond's setup at fifteen to thirty minutes, which is quick. Ours is about ten, and there is nothing to keep tuning afterwards.

Which one, then

Pick Beyond if you are on more than one channel, want search-based pricing, or your operation needs the suite around the engine. It is the larger product by a distance.

Pick Hostomat if you have a few listings on Airbnb and want a flat bill, a hard floor, and a setup you finish in one sitting. The first month is free on every listing, so the comparison costs nothing to run.

Whichever you pick, run one engine per calendar.
