Hostomat WhatsApp thread locking a nightly price with an Approve button

Airbnb pricing on WhatsApp: approve before it moves

Lock a night, set a floor, or pause a listing from WhatsApp. Every change comes back as Approve or Cancel. Nothing writes until you tap.

The Hostomat team

You are away from the laptop. A Saturday in three weeks still looks empty. You want it locked at a number you trust, or you want the floor checked, and you do not want to dig through a calendar on a phone browser. That is the job a host-side WhatsApp thread is for: ask in plain words, read the answer, then tap Approve before anything writes.

You stay in charge of the price

Airbnb's own help is blunt about who owns the number. Hosts set and change nightly prices any time from the calendar, and custom prices on specific nights override the default (Help article 52 and Help article 474, both read 26 September 2026). Changes apply to future reservations, not ones already pending or confirmed.

A pricing tool that writes nights for you still sits under that rule. The host is the last word. If a tool moves a night without a clear ask, trust breaks on the first surprise. The safer shape is the opposite: the tool proposes, shows what it read, and waits.

What a host-side co-host can do on WhatsApp

Hostomat's co-host lives in the app and on WhatsApp once you connect your number in Settings. It is for you, the host. It does not message guests.

It reads your live listings, audit, prices and market when you ask, and answers in plain words, showing what it read. It takes instructions you would otherwise do on the site: lock a night at a price, set a floor, pause or resume a listing, watch a date, remember a preference. It announces new bookings and sends the monthly report. It answers questions about prices, occupancy and reviews when those are available on the connection.

An illustrative Hostomat WhatsApp thread. Numbers are fixture data, not a real listing.

The hard rule sits on every change: every change comes back as a button, Approve or Cancel. Nothing runs until you tap Approve. It never changes a price on its own.

An illustrative thread looks like this. You write: "Lock Saturday 14 February at $305." It comes back with the night, the number, what the floor is, and two buttons. You tap Approve. Only then does the lock write. A lock below the floor is written at the floor. A locked night is never overwritten by a later pricing run.

What it never does

It only writes nightly prices when you have switched pricing on for that listing and approved the change. Availability, bookings, minimum stays, check-in rules and guest messages are never touched. Pause keeps the calendar exactly as it is. Disconnect from Settings removes the connection cleanly.

Hostomat works with Airbnb only for now, connected directly or through Hospitable (listed on Hospitable Apps since 2 September 2026). No Vrbo, no Booking.com yet. It is a young product. Pricing is opt-in per listing. Connecting and the free listing audit need no card. A card is saved when you switch pricing on, and nothing is charged for 30 days after that.

By hand, if you would rather

You do not need WhatsApp to stay in control. Airbnb's calendar already lets you set a custom price on any night (Help article 474).

  1. Open Calendar on the listing.
  2. Select the night or nights.
  3. Enter the custom price and save.
  4. If you use any pricing tool, turn Airbnb Smart Pricing off first so two systems are not fighting the same night.

For a floor you intend as a safety net, write the number somewhere you will see it, and refuse to publish under it even when the street looks soft. For a true lock on a wedding weekend or a personal hold, set the custom price yourself and leave a note why.

The WhatsApp path is the same decisions, with the ask and the Approve in one thread instead of a browser.

Where this can go wrong

Approving a lock without reading the floor line is the fast mistake. If your floor is $180 and you approve $150, the lock lands at $180. That is correct. It still surprises hosts who skim.

Asking the co-host to "message the guest" will not work. Guest messaging is not what this product does. Use Airbnb's own messaging for guests. Keep Hostomat for prices, floors, pauses and the monthly report.

Leaving Airbnb Smart Pricing on while any tool writes nights creates drift. Hostomat will tell you when a price moved after it set one, at most weekly. Turn Smart Pricing off before you rely on a daily reprice.

Do not treat Approve as a formality. If the reason looks wrong, tap Cancel, open the comparison set on the pricing page, drop a listing that does not belong, and ask again.

The first month of Hostomat is free on every listing, and nothing is charged for 30 days after you switch pricing on. Connect your number when you want the same Approve flow on WhatsApp.
